Can diabetic nephropathy cause a miscarriage?

Possibly: It has been shown that women with kidney disease (example diabetic nephropathy) have difficulty becoming pregnant. The worse the kidney disease, the more unlikely a woman becomes pregnant. For those woman who achieve pregnancy, there is a high likelihood the baby survives. However during the pregnancy, the mother's renal disease may worsen, she may develop preeclampsia or she develops chronic htn.

Miscarriage: I have not heard not read studies regarding this. I would discuss with your primary or obgyn.
