Liver/muscle: Statin drugs usually are associted with muscle pains and possible muscle damage.A CPK level of 10x upper limit of normal indicates the drug should be stopped. Liver damage is noted by a increase in the enzymes( alt and ast) . When the levels are greater than 3 x the upper limit of normal the statin should be stopped or decreased. The enzymes usually retun to lower levels. May switch to diff statin.
