Depends: Tacrolimus is a calcineurin inhibitor and is the most widely-used immunosuppressive medication in the U.S. for organ transplant recipients. It is a twice-a-day drug. Because it has a narrow therapeutic index, one needs to have its blood level monitored as excessively high levels can cause nephrotoxicity (can cause kidney failure).
