Low on the list!: Based on the large number of questions on this website about Yersinia pestis, there's clearly someone out there who is very worried about plague! Plague is not a concern on a hiking trip, unless a bioterrorist decides to release the bacteria on your hiking trail. This would clearly be someone who flunked bioterrorism 101.

Depends where u are : The risk depends on whether you are in an endemic area and if you are, the highest risk time is when a die off of the rodent reservoir occurs producing a lot of hungry infected fleas.
