No: Yersinia pestis is transmitted by the xenopsylla cheopis (rat flea)- the bubonic form. Also, it may be transmitted by inhalation - pneumonic form. Best to avoid individuals with the disease or areas of high infestations. Pt's with the pneumonic form will require respiratory isolation.
