A member asked:

How does a pregnant woman pass hepatitis b to her baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Via Shared Blood: The baby receives its blood from the mother via the placenta. Since hepatitis b is a blood-borne pathogen, it can cross the placenta and infect the baby in utero. The virus can also be passed to the baby during labor and delivery from exposure to the mother's blood.
