Do more women or men have insomnia?

Women are more likel: To have insomnia than men. One reason is that hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle and menopause can affect sleep. During perimenopause, women may have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Hot flashes and night sweats often can disturb sleep. Some medical conditions that can cause secondary insomnia also are more common in women than men. Also more in pregancy.

Technically close: Based on studies, more women but this is largely because they see doctors more than men typically do. Their symptoms are also reported more often because they are more descriptive in general. That being said when comparing the groups, the severity of insomonia objectively tends to be worse in men.
