What are the signs you have varicose veins?

Appearance first: The first sign that you have varicose veins is that you can see them. They are can large or small and fairly straight or very squiggley. They are usually below the knee, but can be in the thigh as well. Initially, they might be completely painless but the longer you have them, the more likely they are to cause pain, heaviness, cramping, tiredness, fatigue, throbbing, itching, and swelling.

Various: Varicose veins are usually evident as blue bulging veins, larger than 3 mm, on the legs. There are cases when the varicose veins may be below the skin and not visible. In such cases a tip off might be the presence of certain leg symptoms, such as leg fatigue, heaviness, or night cramps. Other signs can include swelling of the leg, leg eczema, and inflammation or ulceration of the ankle area.

Bulging veins: Varicose veins are bulging wormy-appearing veins, generally of the legs. They will typically get larger when you stand and then shrink up when you elevate your legs and drain the blood from the legs. You can sometimes have associated swelling, an itchy rash, hyperpigmentation of the skin, or even an ulcer or open wound with severe cases. If you aren't sure, i would recommend you see your doc.

Bulging Veins Legs: Visible bulging blue veins beneath the surface of the skin indicate varicose vein disease. There may be symptoms of pain, achiness, fatigue, swelling, itching, or pressure in the legs. Other signs can include brown pigmentation developing on the ankles or feet, swelling of legs, some pink or red discoloration or even a rash around the ankles / lower legs, hardening of the skin, or tenderness.
