Similar: The idea of bioidentical hormones is to give patients the same hormone their body produces without synthetic or chemical alteration. Estradiol (made by the ovary) if delivered through the skin is not altered by the liver & is therefore, bioidentical. Prometrium (micronized progesterone) (progesterone) is bioidentical whereas Provera (chemically altered progesterone) is not.

Same molecule: bioidentical hormones are the same molecule that your body produces, but they are created in a lab. They are safer and more effective than non-bioidentical hormones.
