Causes of Vaginitis: There are many causes of vaginitis. A few are related to immune deficiency (chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis) but candida (yeast) infection of the vagina commonly occurs with a normal immune system. With vaginitis, get a gyn exam, as sexually transmitted infections (trichomonas, chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc...) and age (atrophic vaginitis) are other causes with different treatments.
