Really worried, jumbled speech, confusion. could they be due to depression?

Get evaluated: Are these new symptoms or something you've experienced before? Did you start taking any new meds? In any case, these symptoms are too broad to give you a definitive answer. Contact your primary care doctor, get evaluated to rule out anything physical going on.

Possibly: It's possible, but the jumbled speech and confusion could also indicate other things. Please see your doctor very soon -- this would be the safest thing. You should have certain medical labs checked also, which your primary care doctor can get started. Then, a consultation with a psychiatrist might be in order, to review things with you from another perspective.
