Not necessarily: No, boils and furuncles existed long before there were antibiotics to become resistant to. However, MRSA is a common cause of boils these days. It's helpful to get a culture of the pus if possible, so you'll know whether it's MRSA or not. This could affect the choice of therapy if it's decided that you need antibiotics, either for this boil or for a future episode.
