Chin Reduction: In general, it is best to wait, when possible, for the body (and face) to finish growing before considering any cosmetic procedures. Generally after 18 years old, your face will slow down its changes. If chin reduction is done prematurely, then as the face continues to change, what may have been a good result intially, no longer looks good.

Desire smaller chin: This is typically done for cosmetic reasons but may be indicated for medical reasons if your mandible is significant larger than our maxilla (prognathism) or is associated with a class Ii occlusion. The type of surgery performed depends on the appearance of the mandible and if it is isolated to the chin area or the entire mandible. Discuss with your dentist, orthodontist, oral/plastic surgeon
