Individual: Degree of function following ankle surgery is highly dependent upon the fracture, the surgery and the patient. Your surgeon should probably give you this info before doing any surgery.

Difficult to predict: There are variety of factors to consider. Severity of the fracture, involvement or not of the joint surface, how well it was fixed and any other problems associated locally or in general health of the individual. In general, range of motion improves with time and perseverance with exercises and can potentially return to near normal in less severe cases restored anatomically.
