Trimalleolar ankle fracture surgery. what is the chance of painfree recovery?

Many variables: Results from ankle fracture management depend on the surgeon's ability to obtain "perfect" alignment as very subtle discrepancies can have profound affects on ankle mechanics. Cartilage damage which may have occurred at the time of injury can predispose the joint to arthritis despite optimal surgical treatment. All trimalleolar fractures areen't "equal" so it's difficult to make predictions.

Good: This depends on a lot of factors including how large the posterior fragment is and if it was reduced, how the syndesmosis is fixated, and if there is any other additional injuries other than the bone like an osteochondral fracture.
