More than expected: Easy bruising is bruising that occur out of proportion to the offending trauma. Bruising includes ecchymoses (large areas), petechia & purpura (pinpoint 1-3 mm & larger >3 mm bleeding under the skin & mucous membranes. Easy bleeding includes nosebleeds, bleeding gums, gastrointestinal/rectal bleeding, heavy periods, prolonged bleeding with minor surgery or tooth extraction.
