Is supartz (hyaluronic acid) usually covered by insurance?

It depends.: For many patients it is. Certain signs and symptoms have to be documented by your physician. Usually it is approved for use once every six months for those with knee arthritis.

Yes: Provided that your physician has documented the presence of symptomatic knee arthritis, insurance will usually cover supartz injections. Some insurance companies mandate a specific type of medication to be used- supartz, orthovisc, synvisc, (hylan g-f 20) euflexxa, or hyalgan. The choice of one over the other may be determined by your insurance companies drug plan.
