A bad processed fat.: Soybean oil that is hydrogenated is a cheap fat that is often used in processed foods. It is a "highly saturated" fat, which, along with trans fats, are leading culprit in the development of atherosclerosis and heart disease. We all must avoid these oils and use fats such as omega-3 oils found in fish, or olive oil--which has recently been shown to prolong life as part of the mediterranean diet.
