Big: Pediatricians are the front line doctors for children. They are often the ones who see the symptoms and make the diagnosis or the referral to a specialist.

Autism: Pediatricians are the first contact when there is a concern about autism. Depending upon how much exposure that physician has had with these special children, they can do the preliminary diagnosis. The developmental pediatrician can then be contacted for detailed analysis.
