Why not?: It's an opportunity to meet potential friends, discuss issues you most likely share in common, and set up a network of friends that can help later with carpools, daycare, choosing docs, resources, or just having an objective person to confide in that isn't family. Besides, if it doesn't work for you, stop going, no harm done.
