What are the best natural treatments for autism?

16 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

See below:: Intervention involves behavioral treatments, medicines or both. Many persons with autism have additional medical conditions such as sleep disturbance, seizures and gastrointestinal (GI) distress. Addressing these conditions can improve attention, learning and related behaviors. Natural treatments have not been found to significantly/substantially improve autism.

Depends on the child: Different children respond to different treatments, that is why puzzle pieces are the typical symbol of autism awareness. Some kids are helped by meds, some by behavior treatment, others do respond to diet changes or specific vitamin supplements. No treatment works for all, and any treatment can either have a profound benefit or none. Find a doctor who is willing to listen & work with you.
