How is narcotic abuse, dependence, withdrawal or intoxication self-diagnosed?

Easy...: If you are taking more than prescribed, then you are abusing. If you can't stop taking the medication, then you are dependent. Dependence is not necessarily a negative thing however, as you may depend on a medication for relief to function normally.
