How does the body experience and recognize pain?

The nervous system: Nerves are responsible for experiencing pain and telling our brain what they feel. Sensations are variable and people often experience different levels and definitions of pain, even though they are through the same pathways. Pain and temperature are on the same pathway in the spinal cord also.
