Varies with age: Rapid growth & development in early infancy require more monitoring than the slow changes of the school age child. After a brief hospital stay, followup @ a few days may be needed to monitor weight & jaundice. @ 2wks a 2nd newborn screening test & eval, then 2/4/6mo during rapid growth, 9/12/15/18m during slower growth, than yearly starting @2.This schedule allows early detection of any problems.
