Healing....recovery: You r really speaking of 2 different periods. 'healing' would be the time post op when the wound is closed, their is infection, redness, crust, satin looks like darker normal skin--month or so. Recovery is the period after major surgery that takes months to a year: rehabilitation, pt, love and support needed to achieve optimal function-the really hard work that takes enormous inner strength.

Recovery time varies: Recover time will vary depending on many factors including age, general health of the patient, infection control, blood sugar control, post-operative and follow up care.
