Pain varies: The amount of pain may vary depending on various factors. Immediately after surgery your best bet would be to rest and elevate the amputation site. Post operative pain will be less if you limit the swelling by elevating the involved site. Take the pain medication as needed and as recommended. Keep the bandage dry and clean and follow you doctors' instructions.
