A member asked:

Why would a person need a synovial fluid fungal culture test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Septic arthritis: A fungal culture would be performed on the fluid collected from a joint if the joint was infected and not responding to typical antibiotic therapy. Joint infections caused by fungal infections are not common.
