Why would i need a bite wound culture for bacteria?

Bite would culture: If the wound healts quickly it is not an issue - bt if it is weeping or wet or infected or inflamed it needs to be cultured if it is not responding to the antibiotic to see what is growing and why it is not responding to the treatment as given.

Agree with Dr. Lippe: There can always be bacteria in the mouth that did the biting. Knowing what bacteria grows from the wound culture gives the medical provider valuable information about selection of antibiotics if indicated. Take care/
