A member asked:

What kind of bacteria or viruses does a semen culture detect or look for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Common bacteria: E. coli and its gram-negative rod relatives, less often staph and strep. Different groups do the workup differently. Chlamydia may be sought by gene probes instead.
