Different approaches: A hysterectomy can be performed by removing the uterus though an incision in the vagina, or in the abdominal wall, or by minimally invasive techniques in which the robot or a laparoscope is used to separate the uterus from the other tissues and then remove it through the vagina or by morcellation. Hysterectomies can also include or not include the cervix and the tubes & ovaries.
