Heart test: A cardiac sonographer will place electrodes on ur chest attached 2 an EKG monitor that charts ur heart’s electrical activity. They will perform a resting ekg, measure your resting heart rate & take your blood pressure. A dr or nurse will give the Dobutamine into ur IV while the they continue 2 obtain echo images. It will cause your heart to react as if you were exercising, your heart will go fast.

Hopefully not much: Dobutamine will raise your heart rate and perhaps your blood pressure some. The faster heart rate is intended and the purpose of giving the drug, but it may make you uncomfortable. People also experience chest pain with the infusion from time to time, but the chest pain associated with Dobutamine as been looked at and does not correlate with coronary disease.
