Is it true there is a burning during lasik surgery?

No: The procedure should be painless except for some mild pressure during the creation of the flap. Afterwards, the eye may burn, water, and be light sensitive for a few hours.

LASIK: Most patients feel a little pressure during the flap correction but otherwise they have no discomfort. Some burning for a day or two after surgery due to eye irritation is common after lasik and is controlled with frequent artificial tears.
