A member asked:

Why must i eat locally grown food if i can't get what i want all year round?

A suggestion: The campaign to eat locally is designed to prevent the exit of resources from your local community. It is not a command and of course does not refer to items not available at certain times of the year. It is a good idea however, to support your local farmer and local retail stores, etc.
