Why is my blood sugar higher in the morning than at bedtime?

Great question.: Your glucose levels can be affected by your circadian (day/night) rhythm. When you are waking up, certain hormones are active to help your body get ready to get up. In diabetes, these hormones are accentuated in the morning, and they antagonize the effects of insulin. Therefore, more blood sugar enters the bloodstream from your liver at this time of day.
