See below: Just because you may not be on insulin, patients with type 2 diabetes can develop severe complications such as heart disease, vision problems, neuropathy etc. If the glucose level is not maintained. The only way obviously to know that is to follow your blood glucose levels. Also patients with type 2 diabetes can have elevated glucose levels and at some point require insulin.
