Can low back pain be a tumor?

Yes: Some tumors will cause lower back pain. If i see a young person who is having new onset of back pain or if i see a middle aged person with no history of lower back pain with new onset back pain, i will search for potential tumors as a cause. Thankfully it is uncommon but something not to miss.

YES: Low back pain can definitely be from a tumor. Metastasis from the prostate, breast, lungs, GI tract and kidneys are the most common. In fact, the spine is the 3rd most common place for cancer to spread.
