Maybe an infection: For previously healthy people, getting a fever is usually a sign of an infection. A cough plus fever can be an infection in the nose, sinuses, throat, bronchi, lungs, etc... Fevers often are noticed as higher in the evenings or bedtime. Some infections are viral and go away by themselves, while others are bacterial or fungal and need prescription antibiotics. A primary care doctor can evaluate.
