Very Serious Problem: This condition could become permanent if you don't have that tooth addressed immediately! don't wait. Get to a dentist or oral surgeon and have that tooth either removed or have that infection taken care of right now. There's absolutely no excuse at this point...Get it evaluated and fixed. If your chin or lip stays numb permanently, you'll never forgive yourself for waiting. This is serious!

NO: It is common for people to have tooth infections, but rare to cause numbness to the chin. The nerves supplying the chin come from 2 nerve trunks one right one left. Is the lack of sensation stopping at the midline of chin? If so it s related to some problem with the mandibular nerve on that side. If it is the chin bilaterally, another disease process is at work. See a professional asap.
