Maybe not, but: Some md's are very good at correctly a crick in the neck, or a similar tight neck problem, while other md's don't offer much help. If a patient's md is not very helpful, he might still be able to refer the patient or a good, reasonable chiropractor, plus a physical therapist. A call to one's primary care doctor is a good way to start.
