A member asked:

Do sunglasses just delay or prevent cataracts?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Delay: Sun protection has been proven to delay the time of onset of cataracts but not to prevent the development if you were going to get them anyway. Sunglasses are a useful and recommended thing to wear in the face of bright sunlight.
