No reason to wait: Cataract surgery is elective, meaning that you can have it done when you are ready. If your vision is poor and it is due to the cataracts, you certainly have no reason to wait. In fact, once it is determined that cataract is the cause for your vision difficulties, the sooner you have the procedure, the quicker your recovery will be!

Disability ?: You should have cataract surgery when you are visually disabled. I understand your insurance situation, and it might prompt you to proceed sooner than later, but even though routine cataract surgery is very safe, there are some risks involved in any surgery that you must consider. A surgeon that you trust should be able to guide you.
