Low fat, sugars, alc: Tgs can be high because of genetic predisposition, obesity (metabolic syndrome-assoc w/low hdl, high sugar); diets high in fat (tg), alcohol, and carbohydrates (especially simple sugars) can increase tgs. If overweight-lose weight. Very high tg >800-1000 fasting, can cause pancreatitis. Omega 3 fatty acids (marine oils) may help lower tgs.
