Triad: Polydipsia, polyuria and weight loss despite polyphagia. High blood sugars cause excessive urination and resulting excessive thirst. As the body cannot use glucose properly, the children usually lose weight despite eating more. In complicated cases diabetic ketoacidosis and coma may result.
