A member asked:

What symptoms are associated with pituitary tumors?

2 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Visual & endocrine: Any tumor of the pituitary may affect the optic nerve and produces visual disturbances. The endocrine symptoms depend on the cell type involved and if it makes a hormone. If the tumor does not make hormones it causes deficiency of thyroid, adrenal and gonadal hormones. Excess production of hormone may cause hyperthyroidism and cushing syndrome etc.

Pituitary : One may be asymptomatic. If large, a tumor could impinge on the optic nerves and cause blurred or double vision, headaches and vomiting. If the rumor increases or decreases production of hormones, there could be symptoms associated with that.
