Yes: As the uterus enlarges, cramping in early pregnancy is frequently due to spasm of ligaments which are attached to top of the uterus. It may occur when walking, getting up from sitting, and can be especially bad with sudden movement. The cramping from round ligaments is not associated with bleeding or pain that is severe and constant. As with any concerns, the patient should see her obstetrician.
