Arthroscopicsurgery: A torn meniscus often requires surgery. If you have not seen an orthopedist (surgeon specializing in bones and joints), then perhaps it is time that you do. If the Mobic (meloxicam) is not helping at all, you may need surgery to correct the problem. The surgery is usually done arthroscopically (using a tiny camera and instruments) and requires only three small incisions. It is usually very well tolerated.

See below: Generally speaking, if pain from a torn meniscus isn't relieved with an NSAID like Mobic (meloxicam) adding Tylenol(acetaminophen) may help. Don't exceed the recommended dose and avoid alcohol while on Tylenol. Discuss with your physician if a change to a different NSAID is appropriate, such as Motrin. Sometimes one NSAID works better than another for an individual. Do NOT take OTC NSAIDS with Mobic (meloxicam).
