No: Small amounts of alcohol during pregnancy have never been shown to cause birth defects or other harm to the developing fetus. So, "a few times" should not be a problem, as long as it really was "a few times" and wasn't a "large amount" each time! (that said, most ob/gyn's will discourage any drinking of alcohol during pregnancy - avoids confusion over the terms "a few times" and "large amount").

No: Mary, there is no known safe level of alcohol consumption in pregnancy so no one should drink alcohol if they know that they are or might be pregnant, but that said, the severe effects on embryos that produce the so-called "fetal alcohol syndrome" have most commonly resulted from extreme binge drinking in the first few weeks of gestation, especially between 6-10 weeks from the last menses.
