25% don't know: An antibody test will tell you if you have ever been exposed to Herpes. 25% of carriers don't know! Herpes Type 1 can occur in the mouth or the genitals. These antibodies can be elevated in women who have had a cold sore on their mouth or in type 1 genital herpes. Herpes Simplex type 2 almost never occurs in the mouth. If this antibody is positive, it is presumed to be genital herpes.

Get tested for STDs: You need to get tested for more than just herpes. It would be prudent to consult a gynecologist to decide which Sexually transmitted diseases you should be tested for. You are young enough that you should HPV vaccination.

So when you get tested for herpes IGM, does this test specifically test for heroes? It just antibodies? Also, if it would be just antibodies, could there be another infection? Does symptoms, observing lesions and positive IGM make a diagnosis?
