Commitment: Many patients seems getting detox not for stopping habit but rather to lower the dose. If you are thrully COMMITTED (there is no "trys" in addiction and detox) to acheve true sobriety discuss "cold turkey" under supervision and support of your PMD. Go to your PMD and get help.

Maybe: Detox can range from uncomfortable to medically dangerous. This depends on what mood altering chemicals you are using and your use history. Because of the potential life threatening consequences of detox, it is necessary for you to ask information from someone who knows these and possibly other factors. Most states have detox units that have sliding fee scales.

I would recommend ..: that you visit the website of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and use the "Find a Doctor" feature {http://www.abam.net/find-a-doctor/}. Then you can make an office appointment with an expert in the field to guide and advise you.
