A member asked:

If you have chronic hepatitis b with treatment does it help you get healthy again and not show up in test results or do you have a short time to live?

Treatment helps: Unfortunately, there is no definitive cure for chronic hepatitis B: by definition, a chronic disease lasts more than 6 months and shows various levels of activity (liver damage). Appropriate treatment is aimed at making the liver damage as little as possible (inactive disease or one with low activity). Your may live a relatively normal live as long as the disease is under such control.

What to expect: Once your illness is managed, expect a life expectancy and overall health comparable to anyone else.
